Use Your Home for a Catered Event

Many people shy away from opening up their home for an event feeling that the house isn’t large enough to host a party of forty or fifty people. However, with just a few simple steps, you can convert your home into a perfect spot for a wedding, anniversary, quinceanera, or birthday celebration. Plus, with the temperate climate in California’s Bay Area, you can take advantage of the additional outdoor space the weather affords.

Turn the kitchen over to the caterer. Caterers know how to host events, and if you are willing and able to stay out of your own kitchen during the party, your caterer can smoothly operate, providing you and your guests an array of food and beverages. You can also ask the caterer to bring in all the necessary dishware for the party. This makes clean up a breeze and you won’t cringe when someone inevitably breaks a cup or saucer.

Clean up one or two rooms. You don’t have to clean your entire home to host the event. If you are able to use your yard for some or all of the party, you will only have to tidy the living room and clean one small bathroom. Clear away the clutter to make space for drinks and plates. Add a few extra chairs, set in groups to create intimate spaces for your guests to talk. Add some candles and low lights to keep the space feeling warm and cozy.

Take advantage of the patio and yards. Your guests can enjoy the warm sun or cool nights when you add some tables and chairs to your home’s outdoor spaces. Your catering company can help you rent some additional furniture to turn your yard into an additional party space. Tiki torches, small white lights, and candles will help make the outdoor spaces feel welcoming to your guests.

Most homes have sufficient space for a party. Ask your caterer to come over and help you plan the best layout for the event. With just a little effort, you can save hundreds (or thousands) of dollars while still hosting an unforgettable party.
