June is a popular month for weddings and graduation parties. With a series of birthdays that fall during the summer, many families opt for a collective celebration while the temperatures are warm enough for an outdoor celebration but still cool to be comfortable. Here are a few of the trends in catering as we head into summer:

Colors: For a metallic shade, more hosts are choosing copper instead of silver or gold. Copper brings a more accessible feel to the party, and fits into the overall trend toward rustic themes in party decor. Even for summer, muted, darker tones are trending for 2015. Deep purple, forest green, and burnt orange give events a down-to-earth feel while still providing a tone of formality.

Flowers Overhead: Look for floral archways and chandelier-style flowers at your next party. Suspended flowers is part of the inclination towards smaller, more intimate tables. Instead giant table arrangements that prevent guests from seeing each other, hosts want their guests to sit and chat without the intrusion of giant peonies in the middle of the table.

Small Drinks: Continuing in the tiny dessert trend, hosts are now offering guests several kinds of tiny drinks instead of large, intoxicating cocktails. Tiny drinks frequently help keep alcohol consumption down (although there is always that one uncle…). Plus, tiny drinks allow for more taste experimentation without any of the nasty hangovers the next day.
